Ospreys Soccer Earns Post Season Awards

RCC Athletics Osprey LogoMEDFORD – Two Rogue Community College soccer players were named to Northwest Athletic Conference All-Star teams on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and men’s head coach Greg Millick was named Coach of the Year in the South Division. In addition to the All-Star accolades, five Ospreys players received NWAC honors for Academic Excellence.

Sophomore forward Haley Janky and freshmen defender Mauricio Sanchez were named to the women’s and men’s All-Star teams for the South/East Region. The NWAC All-Star games will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, at Starfire Sports Complex in Seattle with the women kicking off at 9:30 a.m. and the men at 11:15 a.m.

Coach Millick took a fifth-place team that allowed 60 goals in 2016 to a team that was one win away from a division championship and allowed only 14 goals in 2017. The Coach of the Year award means he will be one of the coaches of the men’s All-Star game on Sunday.

Playing for the Ospreys women’s team, Janky and fellow sophomore Krystal Van Dyke were acknowledged for Academic Excellence during their two years of competition. To qualify for Academic Excellence, a player must have played two years and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher while completing a minimum of 36 credits.

The Ospreys men’s program had three players awarded for Academic Excellence: Alex Bauer, Trenton Luebbert and Sebastian Tovar.
