The lifelong learner tuition waiver is designed to promote a lifestyle of continuous learning and personal enrichment. It is available to Oregon residents, ages 65 years and older. The waiver maybe applied to up to eight credits per term for eligible classes. Students using the lifelong learner tuition waiver do not receive credit for the classes and do not pay tuition, but are responsible for course fees, books, and supplies.

Who is eligible?

Oregon residents, 65 years and older, who meet course prerequisites. Courses are only eligible if you are planning to audit a course and not pursue a degree or certificate.

How do I get started?

What classes are eligible for the Lifelong Learner Tuition Waiver?

  • Lifelong learners are eligible to take college-level general education classes that are not career-technical or limited-entry (i.e. Alcohol and Drug Counselor, EMT, Nursing, etc.).
  • Courses that are college-level are given a course number 100 or higher (for example CG100)
  • Classes not being applied to a degree or certificate
     

What classes are not eligible for the Lifelong Learner Tuition Waiver?

  • Career-Technical courses. These courses are identified with the following prefixes:
    • AH, AM, APR, BT, CPL, DA, DS, ECE, EET, EMS, ES, EST, FRP, GD, HC, HCI, HD, HS, MEC, MET, MFG, MT, NUR, PN, PRX, SPT, SRV, ST, TD and WLD.
  • Limited- Entry programs that include:
    • Apprenticeship, Dental Assistant, Emergency Medical Services, Human Services, Massage Therapy, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Coding Specialist, Nursing, Paramedicine, Pharmacy Technology, Phlebotomy, Practical Nursing, and Sterile Processing Technician.

How to pay for my Lifelong Learner Fees

Pay your fees online or in person with cash or check at Rogue Central. Approximate course fees are listed below.

If you prefer, you may visit Rogue Central on any campus to pay in person. A Rogue Central Specialist will apply the waiver to your tuition. If you have questions, e-mail rcs@roguecc.edu.

In the second week of the term, if you have not paid, you will receive a phone call from Enrollment Services. At that time, you will find out how much you owe in course fees and will have the opportunity to pay over the phone with a credit card.
