If you are under 16 years old

  • not participating in Partnership Programs (Early College, College Now, or CTE academy)

you must complete additional steps to determine your acceptance status.

For more information please contact recruitment@roguecc.edu

step1

step2
Complete the Placement Assessment to determine which classes you will need to start with.

step3

Document your ability to attend RCC. To determine what documents you need please chose one of the following.

If you are currently in High School, provide all:

  • A personal statement (email or letter) indicating why you want to attend RCC.
  • A letter or email of recommendation from a teacher which addresses your academic and social/emotional preparedness for an adult learning environment. See a sample recommendation letter.
  • A Permission to Attend letter from a school counselor or administrator. See a sample permission letter.
  • Official High School transcript.

If you are home schooled, provide all:

  • A personal statement (email or letter) indicating why you want to attend RCC.
  • A letter or email of recommendation from an educator or tutor other than your parent or guardian which addresses your academic and social preparedness for an adult learning environment.
  • An Exemption from Compulsory Attendance letter from your Educational Service District (ESD).
  • A transcript of completed coursework.

step4
Schedule an appointment with an RCC Counselor.
  • Bring copies of all required materials to the Counseling appointment.
  • Both you and your parent/guardian are required to attend.
  • Based on this initial meeting a recommendation from the Counselor will be made to the Assistant Director of Admission and Recruitment as to whether or not you can continue in the admissions exception process.
  • Together, you will complete the Underage Enrollment Form.

step5

The Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment will notify you within 2 weeks if you are eligible to register for the selected classes.

Note: All course requests or changes to course requests for new and returning under 16-year-old students must be emailed to Counselor by the deadline listed here. No exceptions will be made. Due to the deadlines, enrollment trends and course offerings, you may not be able to take a class at RCC in a given term.

Registration for courses will occur based on the registration calendar (subject to seat availability).

Recommendations:

Make any requests well in advance of the deadline every term. You should check enrollments in classes before sending requests to ensure there is still space in a course. Request at least one alternative class for each of your classes when you make your course requests. NOTE: Students who are approved through this exception process are not eligible to use the audit grade option.

We strongly encourage students to complete all possible coursework in their school district before pursuing classes at RCC. College-level coursework in an adult-learning environment may not be appropriate for non-college aged students.
