I am a Student and I want to complain about another student

student complaint against an employee

General information and procedure(s) used to resolve disputes

  • Prohibited behaviors for students are outlined in AP-5500 Standards of Student Conduct
  • Please contact a Counselor to discuss the situation.
  • If you feel another student is violating the acceptable standards of behavior an incident report should be filed - a Counselor can help you with this process.
  • The Compliance Coordinator will review incident report and conduct investigation.
  • Decision made as to whether a violation of procedure occurred – sanction imposed if appropriate (please see the Student Discipline Procedure for possible sanctions).
  • Students should use the Discrimination and Harassment Reports and Investigations procedure  if they feel they have been subject to discrimination based on race, color, religion, ethnicity, use of native language, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, veteran status, disability, age, pregnancy, or any other status protected under applicable federal, state, or local laws.

What the process will look like for general complaints.

  • It is recommended to meet with Counselor to discuss what has occurred.  Counselors can be reached by calling 541-956-7443 or by email, [email protected].
  • An Incident Report is completed.
  • The Compliance Coordinator will contact you for an interview – get more detail, ask for any additional evidence or information, etc.
  • The Compliance Coordinator will also interview the other student and any relevant witnesses.
  • Decision made as to whether a violation of procedure occurred – sanction imposed if appropriate (Please see the Student Rights, Freedoms, and Responsibilities procedure for possible sanctions).
  • An appeal of a sanction is possible to the Vice President of Student Services whose decision is final.

How a decision is made to resolve the grievance.

The Compliance Coordinator will look at:

  • Statements by both parties
  • Any electronic evidence (emails, texts, etc.)
  • Credibility of the parties
  • Any other relevant information
  • All parties will have a chance to speak with the Compliance Coordinator and provide evidence prior to a decision being made
