Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving

11/25/2020

We wish you a great Thanksgiving break—you have earned it!—and we hope you have a successful finals week next week.

Your safety is important. Our Risk Management department has provided information for you to protect yourself and others with guidance on holiday gatherings and travel. Please remember, RCC is requiring all students and employees who travel outside of Oregon, Washington or California during Thanksgiving break to quarantine for 14 days before returning to campus.

In case you missed it, the start of winter term has been moved out a week to Jan. 11. You get a nice long winter break! Don’t forget to register for classes. If you have issues with myRogue, you can always register using our Manual Add/Drop Form. You fill it out, we do the work!

Honoring Native traditions

As we show gratitude this Thanksgiving, we also remember the indigenous peoples who have endured so much at the hands of our country. In honor of Native American Heritage Month, please take some time to study and discuss the actual history of Thanksgiving, read a book by a Native American author, or learn about the local Takelma tribe who were indigenous to the Illinois and Rogue valleys.

RCC's Diversity Programming Board offers an extensive list of educational resources on anti-racism, diversity and equity, including a recording of this month's Courageous Conversations discussion on Thanksgiving with David West. The Native American Heritage Month website offers many links for learning more about America's diverse native cultures.

Serving our Veterans

We honored Veterans on Nov. 11 and November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. The RCC Counseling Department takes this opportunity to celebrate the 700+ veterans who attend our college in both credit and non-credit programs. We appreciate you and want to continue to support you during your time here at RCC!

Are you a veteran attending RCC? The Veterans Services webpage has information and resources: roguecc.edu/veterans.

Counseling services are available for any registered RCC student veteran at no cost. There are also counselors who have specialized training in understanding and treating military service members. To schedule an appointment, please email counselingfrontdesk@roguecc.edu or call 541-956-7192 (Redwood Campus) or 541-245-7552 (Riverside/Table Rock).
