Ready, set, spring term!

April 4, 2020

Dear RCC student,

Spring term begins Monday. To help you get off to a great start, we wanted to let you know about the support services RCC has to help you succeed.

First, log in to your myRogue account and look for the "Printable Student's Schedule." Some classes will meet at a certain time via Zoom video conferencing. If this applies, the schedule will show a meeting day and time and list the room as ZOOM.

If the course time is listed as TBA and the location says WEB, you won't need to meet at a specific time. Just check in via Blackboard next week. (More on Blackboard in a minute.)

ALL STUDENTS should check course information next week via Blackboard. While you can't see it now, course information will be available after 8 a.m. Monday, the first day of term. Instructors will provide information on how to access Zoom classes, including links and other instructions.

You must participate in class during the first week or risk administrative drop. Instructors will outline their requirements for first week participation in Blackboard; check the syllabus and any orientation material within each class for guidelines.

About Blackboard

The online platform we use for classes is called Blackboard. You will find a link to Blackboard in your myRogue student portal, on the RCC mobile app or go directly to roguecc.blackboard.com. To find the Blackboard orientation, go to roguecc.blackboard.com then click the link to Student Support in the upper right, then find Online Orientation on the left.

There is a new Blackboard Help Desk where support staff are available to answer your questions from 8 a.m. to midnight seven days a week. Email studentonlinesupport@roguecc.edu

Expecting a call from RCC?

If you are expecting a call from Advising or another RCC department, be aware that employees are calling on personal phones with Caller ID turned off. If your phone is set to block callers with no ID, you will not get the call. We understand why you would block unknown calls but wanted to let you know this could be why you are not getting your awaited return call.

If you think you are missing a call, email advising@roguecc.edu and we will try another way to reach you. We can schedule a specific time to call, answer your questions by email or schedule a Zoom meeting.

Student Services

You will find all support services available to you by clicking on the "Services to Support Students" box on the RCC homepage, www.roguecc.edu. Our advisors and counselors are ready to help you. Email them at advising@roguecc.edu. For help with payments, registration, transcripts and financial aid, contact Rogue Central Services at rcs@roguecc.edu. There is also a page of facts and info at Spring 2020: What You Should Know.

Computer Labs

Student computer labs are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday in Coates Hall at the Redwood Campus and B Building at Riverside Campus. We are keeping with the 6-feet social distancing guidelines. The Redwood Campus library also has computers available (see below).

Library Services (updated 4/4/20)

Your RCC library will be open physically and virtually to assist you this term.  Whether you need to borrow a text book for the term or chat with a librarian on finding resources, we are here for you.

Physical Library

The Grants Pass Redwood Campus library will offer service from our lobby (all other areas of the library will be unavailable).  Students may borrow textbooks and laptops plus rent graphing calculators. Books from our main collection can be retrieved by request. Any item borrowed or rented will not be due back until after the term is over. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions, call 541-956-7152

The Medford Riverside Campus library will be open with lobby service in B Building Room 8 for the first two weeks of the term only. Students may borrow textbooks and laptops plus rent graphing calculators. Any item borrowed or rented will not be due back until after the term is over.  Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Table Rock Campus library will remain closed for spring term.

Virtual Library

We will be providing virtual reference support Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit our Virtual Reference Desk!  Click the “Find” box on the library webpage to access online resources. For questions or help with reference consultations, article requests, citation assistance, and more, contact a librarian at librarian@roguecc.edu. Phone or Zoom appointments are also available.

Bookstore purchases and returns (updated 4/6/20)

The RCC Bookstore is now online only. Textbook sales and book buyback are available on the bookstore website, including financial aid orders.

To learn what books you need, look for the "Printable Student's Schedule" within your myRogue account. Below the list of classes on your schedule, you will find important dates as well as the link to your book list. Click the link to connect to the bookstore website with your textbook information.

Common Errors with the Online Bookstore:

The online bookstore was designed to facilitate students’ purchasing based on the campus on which their course is located. With the recent change to online only instruction, our students are encountering unusual errors.

  • The online store deleted my entire order
  • I can’t add a book to my cart
  • The online store is out of the textbook/materials I need

These errors are occurring because the items you wish to purchase are not available on the campus you selected. Please select another campus until it works. We apologize for this issue; we are unable to fix it at this time.
