Spring term will be online

As you may already know, ALL RCC COURSES WILL NOW BE TAUGHT ONLINE for the entire Spring 2020 term. This is being done for the health and safety of our college community, and to do our best to help students continue towards their educational goals. Please read all of the following information carefully. It is very important.

Many students have expressed concerns about learning online. I assure you RCC will provide the support and assistance you need to succeed. All courses will be ADA compliant and the content will be accessible to everyone.

The online platform we use is called “Blackboard.” You will find Blackboard in your myRogue student portal or directly at roguecc.blackboard.com. We are setting up a new Blackboard Help Desk for students where support staff who know Blackboard will be available to answer your questions. We are taking advantage of the two-week spring break to make preparations. Faculty are working hard to make class content accessible, logical and clear for you to use.

Blackboard access will be available March 27 so you have time to get training and explore how it works. Classes will visible on Blackboard beginning April 6. Be sure you set aside a little extra time to work with Blackboard and get comfortable with it.

The Help Desk will be open, with Blackboard tutors available, from 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week starting March 30.

It will not be possible to teach some courses online. These courses will be canceled and removed from the schedule. Additional online classes will be made available. These changes will begin this week and will continue through the two-week spring break so we can get all students in the courses they need.

In the event a canceled class meets graduation requirements for a student, the college will find a substitute course. We want you to graduate!

How will you know if you are in a campus-based class that can’t be put online? You should check your schedule in myRogue. The classes you are registered for that have been moved online will still show on your schedule. You may see some canceled courses on your schedule. These are the courses you will need to replace with another online course. Be sure you are enrolled for the number of credits you want or need, and please pay attention to your enrollment level if you are on financial aid. Questions about your aid can be directed to RCS@roguecc.edu.

The RCC Bookstore will also be online only. Stores will be closed as of Monday and online ordering will be available on the bookstore website, including financial aid orders. All orders will be shipped for a $5 flat rate. Buyback is available online through the bookstore website.
