We are in this together

We all have big stress right now: a pandemic; fire recovery efforts; problems with the new RCC software system; fall term coursework; a presidential election (Nov. 3), and the coming holiday season. Whew, it's a lot to absorb and deal with, and sometimes "discourse" can become heated and angry.

What to do?

Whether at RCC on campus or online, let's all please remember the golden rule of civil discourse: don't make it personal. Everyone has the right to express themselves, and we also have responsibilities that come with that right. Each person in a civil discourse is entitled to his/her/their own opinions and is entitled to be treated with respect and dignity.

That is the Ospreys way, and at RCC we live it and are proud to put it in writing.
As we approach the election, end of fall term and the holidays, let's all remember we are in this together and our freedoms and differences are what make us strong as a country.

No more face shields without masks

Starting Monday, all persons on campus will be required to wear a surgical mask, washable cloth mask or N95 respirator (without exhalation valve) at all times when inside campus buildings and outside when 6 feet distance between individuals can't be maintained.

In accordance with updated guidance from the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), the use of a face shield on campus will be authorized only when used in conjunction with an additional approved facial covering such as a cloth mask, surgical mask or N95. For more, please visit our Facial Coverings FAQ.

A new name for Disability Services

Disability Services has changed its name to Access and Disability Resources, or Access for short. We believe the name change more accurately reflects the department's important role of providing access and resources for students who experience disabilities.

Also new this fall, Access is using a system called AIM for students to request accommodations for their classes. Students who have had accommodation in the past through RCC will continue to have access to accommodation in future classes. Returning students can access AIM through myRogue > Student Services > Access and Disability Resources. Students who would like to apply for services through Access can begin by completing the Access Application.
