Student Huddle counseling group for student support

Life After Loss: Grief Support Group

A 6 week group for those grieving the death of a loved one.

Grief is about loss, and loss comes in many forms – death being just one of them. Regardless of the type of loss you’ve experienced, your grief is real. Grief often brings along with it a myriad of feelings that may be difficult or confusing for you. Some of the most common reactions to loss are: Feelings of loneliness and isolation, loss of control of your thoughts and feelings, feeling like you’re “going crazy”, difficulty concentrating, guilt, remorse or constant anxiety over what you could have done differently.

Fire Trauma Support Group

The fires in our community have had a significant impact on stress levels and access to basic needs and the ability to cope. It is natural and normal to notice a heightened stress response during this time, but that does not mean that it is easy to cope with this experience.

Julia Fisher, a counselor at RCC, is offering a free support group for students feeling the emotional impact of the fires. The focus of the group will be to offer support, stress relief, community, connect students with one another and offer resources.

Starting Monday, October 5, the group will meet weekly every Monday from 2– 3 p.m. using this Zoom link.

If you are calling in, please call in at (669) 900-6833. If you are having trouble with the link, use the meeting ID number which is 957 0532 8622 and the passcode is 729254.  Students are welcome to join in at any time.

Because this is a counseling group, we ask that you complete the Consent to Tele-Health form and the Informed Consent form. Email those completed forms to jfisher@roguecc.edu preferably ahead of the session you plan to attend.

Feeling the emotional impact, but cannot make the group, or prefer to talk one-on-one? Feel free to set an appointment with a Counselor by contacting counselingfrontdesk@roguecc.edu or call (541) 956-7192 (Redwood Campus) or (541) 245-7552 (Riverside or TRC Campus) to schedule an appointment.

If you experience a disability that may require some accommodation in order to participate in a Rogue Community College class or activity, please notify Disability Services by calling 541-956-7337 or email disabilityservices@roguecc.edu at least 5 business days in advance.
