Ospreys Soccer Season Comes to a Close

MEDFORD – The Rogue Community College (RCC) Ospreys women’s and men’s soccer teams both played in their final games of the season Wednesday, Oct. 24. The Ospreys women hosted Portland Community College (PCC) and lost the match 1-0. The Ospreys men were on the road against PCC and lost their match 4-0.

Ospreys Women
The Ospreys (5-9-1, 4-7-1 NWAC) hosted PCC in a game that had no bearings on the final season standings. The match was closely contested with a single goal being the difference. Esmeralda Sanchez scored the lone goal of the day in the 14th minute, unassisted, to secure the 1-0 win for PCC.

There was one yellow card issued during the match: Logan Billy (RCC – 82nd)

The Ospreys women finished the season with 13 points and ranked 4th place in the South Region for a third year in a row! For the six sophomore women, it was their final game as Ospreys. With 12 potentially returning players, the Ospreys will look to add to the group and make the push next year to qualify for playoffs.

Ospreys Men
The Ospreys (0-11-1, 0-10-0 NWAC) were on the road against PCC. Four sophomore men played in their final game as Ospreys and were hoping to find a win; however, PCC secured a playoff spot with a final score of 4-0. Miguel Rosas had two assists and a goal for PCC, Bryan Tapia-Silva had two goals, and Miguel Vergara had the final goal. Khalid Aden and Dorian Contreras Bran each had an assist.

There were two yellow cards issued during the match: Luis Cerna (RCC – 45th) and Mauricio Sanchez (RCC - 86th).

The Ospreys men finished the season winless putting them in 6th place in the South Region standings. With 15 freshmen that are eligible to return to the program next year, they will be looking to add a few new players.
