myRogue downtime and other important dates

Finals are over, grades are available (check your myRogue account) and it’s time for a nice winter break! Before you go, here are a few important things you should know.

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving

We wish you a great Thanksgiving break—you have earned it!—and we hope you have a successful finals week next week.

It's almost time for a long winter break

There are just two weeks left in the term, with a long weekend coming up for Thanksgiving. You deserve a break!

Good news: Winter break will be a week longer than originally planned. We decided to delay the start of winter term, now scheduled for Jan. 11-March 26. This decision was made for a couple of reasons: First, it will allow us more time to transition back to RogueNet, our old student management system. It also will allow time for quarantine before returning to campus after the holidays.

No school on Wednesday! RCC honors Veterans Day (and more!)

RCC Celebrates our Veterans 2020

There will be no classes and all RCC facilities will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day. On this day, we recognize veterans for their service to our country. Veterans are a special and significant part of our Rogue community.

We are in this together

We all have big stress right now: a pandemic; fire recovery efforts; problems with the new RCC software system; fall term coursework; a presidential election (Nov. 3), and the coming holiday season. Whew, it's a lot to absorb and deal with, and sometimes "discourse" can become heated and angry.

Update: Face shields no longer acceptable without masks

masks required on campus

IMPORTANT NOTICE: A surgical mask, washable cloth mask or N95 respirator (without exhalation valve) must be worn at all times when inside campus buildings and outside when 6 feet distance between individuals can't be maintained.

October 16, 2020

Many students have not been able to pay fall tuition because of delays awarding financial aid. To help, we've made some adjustments:

We're here to help

We have good news! Student Services is moving back on campus two days a week to assist you in person. We are so excited to see your faces!

Financial Aid Update - Fall 2020

October 2, 2020

Today was the first scheduled date for disbursement of financial aid refunds for fall term. We were optimistic that all funds would go out as planned, but our new system failed to achieve that goal. We are deeply sorry for those of you who did not receive funds today as expected.

Some refunds were sent successfully. Unfortunately, our new computer system continues to experience technical difficulties and several groups of students did not receive refunds today. Some of those groups include:

October 2, 2020

Whew, we’ve made it through week 2! Hope all is going well. Be sure to stay informed and up-to-date with our Fall 2020 FAQs.

Important Update for Fall Term - Week 1

September 25, 2020

It has been a big challenge for you and for us to start this term. We have a new student information system that is not working as it should, and it has created a long wait as we process financial aid and registration. Thank you for your determination to hang in there and attend college this term. We are working tirelessly to serve every student's needs.

An Apology From The President

Many of you, as well as staff and faculty, have encountered problems with registration, financial aid and student records this summer term. We apologize for these issues. We've heard your feedback. Our hearts have been moved by your stories. We care about you, and to be transparent we're telling you more about the situation.

On July 1, Rogue Community College launched an all new student information system called Campus Nexus. This included a new myRogue. This new system has been in development for two years and replaced a very outdated one from 1995 that was obsolete.

Financial aid timelines

Many students are asking for updates on the status of financial aid, loans and other questions. Staff are hard at work responding to all inquiries and providing answers. We are getting hundreds of inquiries per day, your patience is appreciated.

To help you right now, here are expected turnaround times:

Fall registration in the new myRogue

It's time to register for fall classes! Before you do, we have a few important notes about recent changes to our registration system.

We have a new registration system

August 3, 2020

It's time to register for fall classes! Before you do, we have a few important notes about recent changes to our registration system.

First, we launched an all-new myRogue and the login credentials have changed. You will now use your RCC email address to log in to myRogue, Blackboard and lab computers, as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Processing of financial aid and other disbursements is in progress!

July 21, 2020

Uncertainty about money can cause a lot of stress. And we know many students are anxious about financial aid and other disbursements from Rogue Community College.

We assure you that we have approved financial aid, scholarships and grants for summer term. If you received an award letter, you will get the funds.

But due to the changeover to a new RCC computer system, there have been some glitches with BankMobile, the company that deposits your funds in your bank account.

Summer term financial aid update

July 15, 2020

Thank you all for your grace and patience as we process financial aid awards, scholarships, agency vouchers and refunds in our new student management system. We are writing to let you know that disbursement of summer term refunds is now scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 21.

Wearing masks on campus

July 2, 2020

We care about you.

Rogue Community College’s COVID-19 Response Plan continues to focus on everyone's safety, and we are operating on the most current information from our governing agencies. Though we continue to provide classes online, there are still some instances when people must visit an RCC campus.

As of July 1, 2020 all staff, faculty, students, contractors and visitors to any RCC campus are required to wear a mask, face covering, or face shield while inside any RCC facility.

Important update for summer term

July 2, 2020

Summer term starts Monday and we're still busy working on the new myRogue portal. We have a few wrinkles to work out before you can log in to your account.

A midterm update

May 13, 2020

Dear RCC students,

Hurray! You're halfway through spring term. I hope you've settled into a good routine and are learning how to make the most of our online environment — and remembering to step away for some fresh air as well.

Here are a few announcements and reminders as we look toward the end of term:

Hello Monday!

May 4, 2020

We're almost halfway through spring term, so you've been "online only" for a while now. We know it can be a struggle. You're juggling homework, family, finances and technology issues — and probably feeling a little cooped up.

But, you know what? The end of the term is just six weeks away. You CAN do this! Please reach out and let us know how to support you.

Student Life has a new Facebook page where you can connect with other students and clubs.

Commencement will be online

April 30, 2020

Dear RCC community,

We are looking forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our graduates in June. As previously announced, RCC will have a reformatted ceremony this spring instead of our traditional ceremony at the Expo.

Hope to see you soon!

April 20, 2020

Hi RCC student,

Heya, how are things? We thought we'd check in and see how everything's been going for you the past couple weeks. We miss seeing everyone on campus. You want to meet up for coffee on Friday? More on that in a minute.

First, we want to make sure you know about a couple places where you can stay in the loop while we're all staying at home:

An update on commencement

April 14, 2020

At Rogue Community College, nothing gives us more joy and pride than the annual commencement ceremony. We get to see your moment as you cross the stage. We get to see the hugs you share with loved ones after the ceremony. We get to honor the friendships that you have built with your peers and the mentorships you grew with instructors.

A message from the President

April 10, 2020

Dear RCC student,

Dr. Cathy Kemper-PelleI want to personally thank you for enrolling at RCC for spring term 2020. These are challenging times, and your decision to continue your education is worth celebrating.

Our course delivery methods look different for many of you due to the governor’s executive order limiting face-to-face gatherings to reduce the spread of coronavirus. However, we are confident that we can help you achieve your educational goals this term in a totally online environment.

A few tips about Zoom

April 9, 2020

Good afternoon,

Welcome to spring term, and I hope you are staying safe. While we navigate these new waters, I wanted to reach out and go over a few things about Zoom.

Zoom is a web-based video conferencing solution that will be one of the main ways we communicate with you this term, as well as email and messages within Blackboard.

An update from the Bookstore

April 9, 2020

Welcome to spring term from your RCC Bookstore! There's been a lot of change lately — really A LOT, right? — and I want to thank you for your patience as we adjust. I know there have been some challenges, and we're working hard to improve the process of purchasing texts through our site.

Ready, set, spring term!

April 4, 2020

Dear RCC student,

Spring term begins Monday. To help you get off to a great start, we wanted to let you know about the support services RCC has to help you succeed.

First, log in to your myRogue account and look for the "Printable Student's Schedule." Some classes will meet at a certain time via Zoom video conferencing. If this applies, the schedule will show a meeting day and time and list the room as ZOOM.

Pass/fail option for select courses

April 3, 2020

For spring term only, RCC is offering students the option to select a pass/fail grade instead of a letter grade for some courses. This is in response to the recent changes in course delivery in many of the college’s classes, along with added external pressure and potential stress on our students.

Good news about fees

March 27, 2020

We have some good news! RCC has decided to waive all distance learning fees for the spring 2020 term. Students who have already paid this fee for spring term will be refunded.

Spring Term Updates

March 20, 2020

Because your health and safety are our priority — and in response to the executive order issued this week by Oregon Gov. Kate Brown — all RCC campuses and learning centers will be closed except to limited staff beginning Saturday, March 21. We will deliver all instruction and services remotely for the Spring 2020 Term.

All RCC classes and services move online

March 19, 2020

After meeting with state officials and college leadership, Rogue Community College President Cathy Kemper-Pelle announced the college will provide instruction and student services through online and virtual means only starting end of day Friday, March 20 through June 26, 2020. This decision allows RCC to deliver quality education to students throughout the entire spring term.

Spring term will be online

March 19, 2020

As you may already know, ALL RCC COURSES WILL NOW BE TAUGHT ONLINE for the entire Spring 2020 term. This is being done for the health and safety of our college community, and to do our best to help students continue towards their educational goals. Please read all of the following information carefully. It is very important.

Let's Stay Connected

March 18, 2020

As RCC prepares to move staff home to work, you will find our Student Services offices on the Riverside Campus (Medford) and Redwood Campus (Grants Pass) open but with a “skeleton crew.”

Our Table Rock Campus (White City) will be closed completely.

To respect our social distancing requirements and to attend to everyone’s health needs, we have set up ways for us to help you get your business done without coming in. Please note the following information.
