2020 Individual Innovation Award Recipient: 

Nicole Sakraida, Director of Admissions and Recruitment
Project: New Employee Onboarding Plan
Nicole Sakraida has developed and implemented a New Employee Onboarding Plan for staff. She has hired multiple staff over the last few years and continues to revise this plan in order to maximize the success of her new staff, directly correlating to our work with students. This plan is a direct link to RCC’s Wildly Important Goals, devised to provide tools and resources for staff to help students improve access to education and support systems, and maximize cross-divisional/department strategies to solve problems creatively (WIG 1, Objective 1; WIG 3, Objective 9). As RCC moves towards Achieving the Dream, ensuring that staff are able to meet students where they’re at is critical for student success.

It is our pleasure to nominate the Campus Nexus Subject Matter Experts for the team innovation award for 2020. The contributions of this team have both current and long-term impacts on the college community by driving the successful transition from our legacy system RogueNet (ERP) to Campus Nexus, an ERP purchased from Campus Management (now Anthology). The level of commitment demonstrated by these individuals is difficult to quantify due to the amount of time, energy, sacrifice, and problem solving that has gone into their efforts since 2017. The ERP product is not the innovation being recognized, but rather the innovative collaboration of the Subject Matter Experts charged with driving RCC’s role in configuration, implementation, and GoLive of the product as part of a five-college consortium.

The tireless efforts of this team over the past three years indicate a level of commitment that expands far beyond benefits to our students and employees. This work is groundbreaking for the colleges of the consortium and the entire state of Oregon. The exemplary model of collaborative innovation adopted by this team reflects their belief in a larger cause that is pioneering. They are future focused and creating systems and processes that will empower learning, unleash talent, and spark creativity to serve all of our colleges for years to come. This is innovative leadership, knowing that their work reaches far beyond their individual roles.
