Want a part-time job while being a student?

As a student, working part-time while managing your classes and personal life takes some consideration and planning, yet it can be done! RCC has many success stories that prove it.

Student Employees at RCC may work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the term. However, depending on their department, they may work more than 20 hours per week during the breaks between terms.

Depending on the level of skill required for a student position, it may be classified as Level 1 or Level 2, their respective pay rates being:

  • Level 1: $12.00
  • Level 2: $12.25

Student Employment Eligibility

To be eligible to be a Student Employee at RCC, you must:

  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credits
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of:
    • 2.0 for Level 1 Positions
    • 3.0  for Level 2 Positions

To be eligible for Student Employment during the summer term, you must:

  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credits for the summer term, or enrolled in less than 6 credits for the summer term and pre-enrolled in fall term for at least 6 credits
  • Meet required GPA for Level 1 or Level 2 positions
    • New RCC students: the GPA requirement will be reviewed at the end of the term

Preparing Your Application

Once you’ve identified any position(s) to pursue, you must complete an online application. Once the application is completed, you can use the same information to apply for a variety of student positions. Prepare for the application process by having:


To maximize your preparation, Student Employment Services also recommends practicing your interview skills. An excellent resource that we use is Big Interview, which works best if you have an updated version of either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as your browser (i.e., not Internet Explorer) and a functioning microphone and webcam.
