New SNAP Eligibility for Students

Click here for important SNAP benefit dispursment information due to the government shutdown.

The Oregon Department of Human Services has expanded the ability to offer benefits through its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This expansion is available to all eligible students who are enrolled in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Generally at RCC this means enrollment in an AAS degree, certificate and Career Pathways certificate program.*

New student eligibility criteria for SNAP benefits:

  • A student attending an institution of higher education half-time or more must meet an exemption reason to be eligible for SNAP benefits.
  • Due to flexibility with federal requirements, Oregon is expanding eligibility to students by adding a new exemption reason:
    • The student is enrolled, either voluntarily or as part of an employment and training plan, in a Career and Technical Education Program (CTE).

Students can apply online at
Oregon's Administrative Rule regarding student eligibility.

Students will also need to visit Student Services areas of Rogue Central or Counseling/Advising for signatures on their SNAP eligibility verification form

*Transfer programs and degrees are not eligible.
